About AQIP
What is the mission of AQIP?
AQIP's mission is to promote heritage interpretation in Quebec by supporting interpreters, professional practices, recognition programs, and public engagement with cultural and natural heritage.
The Association quebecoise des interpretes du patrimoine strengthens the heritage funding ecosystem by recognizing and professionalizing the people and organizations that interpret cultural, historic and natural places for the public. Founded as a non-profit association and described by its official site as the only francophone association of heritage interpreters in the Americas, AQIP gives the sector a shared professional home. Its annual awards, including the Prix du merite en interpretation du patrimoine and the Prix Sepaq de l interprete de l annee, do not operate like large capital grants, but they still matter to funding infrastructure: they make excellent projects visible, validate careers, and help museums, parks, historic sites and interpretation centres demonstrate quality to funders and partners. By circulating standards, networking opportunities and recognition, AQIP helps small heritage organizations convert professional practice into stronger public programming and more credible funding cases.
