Akaitcho Business Development Corporation serves as a key community lending organization in the Northwest Territories, providing access to business capital for small businesses in Yellowknife, N'Dilo, and Dettah. As a non-profit organization, it bridges financing gaps for entrepreneurs who may not qualify for traditional bank financing.
Funding Programs Offered
The organization administers an Investment Fund providing repayable loans up to $200,000 for new, existing, and expanding small businesses that create jobs for local residents. The Indigenous Women Entrepreneurs (IWE) Micro-Loan program offers repayable micro-loans up to $20,000 plus non-repayable contributions for businesses majority owned by Indigenous women. The Women Entrepreneur Loan Fund (WELF) provides repayable loans up to $50,000 for businesses over 50% women-owned.

Beyond financing, Akaitcho BDC offers comprehensive business support including business planning, financial planning support, self-employment services, and the Indigenous Women's Entrepreneur Series. The organization also hosts events and provides downloadable resources and templates.
Eligibility
All residents of N'Dilo, Dettah, and Yellowknife are eligible to apply for business loans, regardless of ethnicity.
