Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Legal entities validly incorporated or registered in Canada.
  • For-profit and not-for-profit organizations.
  • Businesses and industries, electricity or gas utilities, and academic and research institutions.
  • Community and Indigenous governments and organizations.
  • GNWT departments, agencies, Crown corporations, and related organizations.

Who is not eligible

  • Federal organizations, such as federal departments, federal Crown corporations, and federal agencies.

Eligible expenses

  • Management and professional services.
  • Materials and supplies.
  • Equipment and capital assets.
  • Contractors.
  • GST/HST that is not reimbursable by federal, provincial and territorial governments and incremental salaries and benefits for human resources.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Replacing existing charging infrastructure.
  • Installing charging infrastructure in residential buildings of less than four units.

  • Applications are reviewed in a consistent manner.
  • Projects are expected to demonstrate feasibility, timelines, and maintenance planning.
  • Detailed applications should include team background, power availability, and project readiness information.

How to apply

  • Review and understand the NWT EVIP Application Guide.
  • Complete the NWT EVIP application form; detailed applications must also complete the Proposal Form.
  • Attach the required supporting documents, and for detailed applications include the proposal, quotes or a published RFP, and any other required materials.
  • Submit the completed application by email to NWTEVIP@gov.nt.ca or by mail to the NWT EVIP Coordinator, Division of Energy, Department of Infrastructure, Government of the Northwest Territories, C. P. 1320, Yellowknife NT X1A 2L9.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed in a consistent manner.
  • The application will not be assessed until it is completed and signed.
  • Failure to provide a complete application, including all required forms and credible supporting documentation, may result in the return or denial of the application.
  • False statements or concealment of a material fact may result in exclusion from the NWT EVIP and/or revocation of the application and any subsequently awarded funds.
  • The GNWT may request operational data from funded charging stations for information and planning purposes.
