Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Any current resident of Yellowknife who has lived there for 6 months or more.

Who is not eligible

  • Charities, businesses, and service clubs cannot apply.

Eligible expenses

  • Materials and supplies directly related to the project.
  • Venue rental for community events.
  • Marketing and promotional costs for the project.
  • Equipment rentals needed for the project’s execution.
  • Honorarium up to a maximum of $500 per project for skills or knowledge contribution, excluding the grant recipient; the grant recipient may receive a maximum of $200 themselves for skills or knowledge contribution.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Fundraising for other projects and/or organizations during your event.

Selection criteria

  • Projects that meet multiple community needs will be prioritized.

How to apply

Processing and Agreement

  • After applications close, top applications will be shortlisted by Yellowknife Community Foundation staff and asked to answer a few more questions.
  • Shortlisted applications will be reviewed and scored by the Grants Committee.
  • Applicants can expect to be notified of the grant within a month of the applications closing.
  • After the project is completed, recipients must provide receipts to the Yellowknife Community Foundation along with a final report.
  • After completion, recipients must share a few photos or video and a short story, return the expense form and any unused money, and participate in the survey.
