WSP-ECE Handbook Insert: ECE Wage Grid Guidelines

• Proof of completion documents such as certificates, diplomas and degrees, or a letter of completion if the original document cannot be provided
• Confirmation of enrolment letter for educators currently enrolled in an ECE course deemed equivalent by the Minister, including the expected end date
• Copy of the ECE Certificate or Diploma upon course completion to permanently register the educator at Level 1
• Letter issued by the post-secondary institution for educators in the two-year ECE program, showing the program name, start date, date of successful completion of 1st year, and projected completion of 2nd year
• International assessment of credentials from a recognized assessment agency for international credentials

Who is eligible?

• Operators of licensed Early Learning and Child Care facilities in New Brunswick.

Who is not eligible

• Early Learning and Childcare Home Operators.
• Owners and shareholders of a for-profit business, for hours worked in their facility or any other facility.
• Inclusion Support Workers for hours worked that are funded via the Inclusion Support Worker or Developmental Child Care programs.
• Office Administrative Officers, volunteers, and board members.

• Step 1 applies to educators with 0 to less than 1 year of relevant work experience; Step 2 to 1 to less than 2 years; Step 3 to 2 to less than 3 years; Step 4 to 3 or more years.
• One year of relevant work experience equals a minimum of 750 hours working directly with children 0-12 years.
• For a Step increase, at least 12 months must have passed since the last Step Increase or Step Assignment, and the educator must have at least 750 hours of relevant work experience in the last 12-month calendar year.
• If applicable, 10 hours of curriculum-related training are required before a Step increase can be assigned.
• Conditionally approved educators remain at Step 1 of their approved Level until mandatory training requirements are completed.

• Log in to the Operator Portal and consent to the WSP-ECE Terms and Conditions.
• Register the facility for WSP-ECE and enrol qualifying educators through the Operator Portal.
• Submit Educator Applications through the Operator Portal at least five business days before the Hours Report opens for the reporting period.

• Once an Educator Application is submitted, EECD manages registration and enrolment in the online course through the Portal.
• The educator remains conditionally approved until the online course is completed.
• Funding begins upon approval by EECD in the Operator Portal.
• Funding is paid twice a month based on actual hours reported by operators.
• The payment process begins within one business day following report submission, and payments are received within 3-4 business days.
