The program funds practical research and training studies to improve Ontario’s workplace safety and workers’ compensation system outcomes.   • Workplace-based projects should create partnerships between workplaces, researchers, and organizations.
  • Training proposals should address long-standing barriers for injured or ill workers, employers, and the compensation system, or build community capacity with potential to improve system results.

How to apply

Step 1: Prepare initial application materials
  • Develop a proposal under one of the accepted types (research or training).
  • Align the proposal with the program objective to improve workplace injury and illness insurance system outcomes.
  • For the 2025 competition, address relevant considerations (how we work, health and safety approach, return-to-work and recovery support).
Step 2: Submit initial application by the deadline
  • Submit the initial application for the relevant intake before the posted deadline.
Step 3: Participate in stage-two process (if invited)
  • Proceed through the second stage of the program’s two-staged application process as directed by WSIB.
