Overview
The program funds practical research and training studies to improve Ontario’s workplace safety and workers’ compensation system outcomes. Funding requests can be up to $150,000 per year, to a maximum of $300,000 over two years, for research proposals and training initiatives that address system needs and barriers.

How to apply
Step 1: Prepare initial application materials
- Develop a proposal under one of the accepted types (research or training).
- Align the proposal with the program objective to improve workplace injury and illness insurance system outcomes.
- For the 2025 competition, address relevant considerations (how we work, health and safety approach, return-to-work and recovery support).
- Submit the initial application for the relevant intake before the posted deadline.
- Proceed through the second stage of the program’s two-staged application process as directed by WSIB.
