Who is eligible?
- Authorized representatives of a company or legal entity that is registered or incorporated in BC.

Who is not eligible
- B.C. ministries, crown corporations, and home-based businesses.
Eligible expenses
- Purchase of the EV charger.
- Labour and construction costs for the installation of the EV charger and associated conduit.
- Electrical and other related permits.
- Parking and electrical design to accommodate the EV chargers and conduit.
- EV parking signs, capital expenses including informatics and other equipment or infrastructure, legal services associated with project work, license fees and permits, costs associated with environmental assessments, and EV power management devices such as load-sharing technologies.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Costs incurred before BC Hydro or FortisBC sends email confirmation of pre-approval.
- Installation of non-EV charging infrastructure.
- Administration such as communication between property management and residents, copy or documentation fees.
- Painting of parking area, land costs, and legal fees associated with dispute resolution.
- Taxes paid on the EV charger(s) or labour, and charging infrastructure already required under regulation, building codes, or other programs.
How to apply
- Apply online through the portal for your electricity provider.
- If you have a BC Hydro or City of New Westminster account, apply at bchydro.com/evcharger; if you have a FortisBC, City of Penticton, City of Grand Forks, Nelson Hydro or District of Summerland account, apply at www.fortisbc.com/ev.
- Provide the quote of work from a licensed electrical contractor and, if leasing the workplace, written consent from the property owner.
- After pre-approval, complete the project and submit the final application with the required documents.
Processing and Agreement
- BC Hydro reviews the pre-approval application and sends an email within 30 days with the decision and next steps.
- After the final application is submitted, the documents are reviewed.
- If approved, rebate payment is processed within 90 days of the final application submission.

- Workplace applicants can access up to five free hours of EV advisor support for planning and implementing charging infrastructure installations.
