- Registered non-profit societies and charities in British Columbia.
- Non-profits that own, operate, or administer a social enterprise.
- First Nations bands, governing bodies, and Indigenous-led non-profits.

- For-profit businesses.
- B Corporations and Community Contribution Companies.
- Organizations operating outside British Columbia.
- Publicly funded bodies such as municipalities, school districts, libraries, and hospitals.
Eligible expenses
- Participant stipends for approved work placements.
- Administrative costs related to project management, recruitment, claims, and reporting.
- Training, skills development, and employment-related supports.
- Equipment and other placement-related support costs.
- Participant supports such as supervision, orientation, and certification costs.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Fundraising and political activities.
- Capital items and assets not directly supporting work experience.
- For-profit activities.
- Current employee wage subsidies.
- Travel costs unless directly related to the placement.

Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed by United Way BC.
- Successful applicants sign a Letter of Agreement before funding is released.
- Funding is provided after approval and agreement completion.
- Funded agencies must complete required surveys, reports, and check-ins.
- Final reporting and any unspent funds must be returned by the required deadline.

- Participants receive a stipend, not wages.
