Who is eligible?
- Women.
- Canadian citizens, Permanent Residents or Protected Persons.
- Residents of Alberta.
- Registered (full or part-time) students in an approved post-secondary institution located in Alberta, including Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training's Apprenticeship Education Program.
Who is not eligible
- High school students, even those accepted into an upcoming STEM program.
- Students registered in short-term, part-time continuing education courses.
- Students attending a post-secondary institution outside Alberta.
- Recipients of the Alberta Women’s Science Network (AWSN) Women in STEM scholarship.
- Visa students are not eligible.

How to apply
- Step 1: Register for GATE Access
- Request a GATE (Grant Administration Tracking and Evaluation) username and password during the scholarship's intake period.
- Use the 'Request an account' button; do not send an email for login credentials.
- Receive your GATE login details via email within 2 business days.
- Step 2: Complete the Application
- Log into the GATE online application system using your credentials.
- Fill out the scholarship application form with all required information.
- Step 3: Submit Your Application
- Review your application to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Submit the application through the GATE online system before the deadline.
Processing and Agreement
- Notifications are sent by email to the address provided in your GATE account.
- Notifications will be emailed approximately 3 months after the intake deadline.
- Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
- All decisions on scholarship applications are final and no appeals will be considered.
Additional information
- Intake for the 2025-26 academic year is open from September 15 to October 31, 2025.
- Previous recipients may reapply; however, priority is given to those who have not previously received the scholarship.
- Applicants may apply to multiple scholarships (Women in STEM, Persons Case, Women in Technical and Applied Arts), but can only receive one in the same calendar year.
