The Women in STEM Scholarship provides up to $2,500 per recipient to support women in Alberta pursuing post-secondary studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields where women are underrepresented. Eligibility
- The applicant must identify as a woman.
- The applicant must be studying in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics) program as defined by Statistics Canada.
- The applicant must be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Person.
- The applicant must be a resident of Alberta under specific residency requirements.
- The applicant must be registered (full or part-time) at an approved post-secondary institution located in Alberta, including recognized apprenticeship programs.

- Scholarship funds to support studies in an approved STEM program at an eligible Alberta post-secondary institution.

Selection criteria
- Priority given to candidates who have not already received the scholarship for women in STEM.
How to apply

Register for a GATE account
- Request a GATE username and password during the scholarship's open intake period
- Click on the "Request an account" button to register
- Do not send an email requesting a login
- The username and password will be sent to your email within 2 business days

Complete and submit application
- Log in to the GATE system with your received username and password
- Complete the online application form
- Provide all required information and documentation
Additional information
- Intake for the 2025-26 academic year is open from September 15 to October 31, 2025.
- Previous recipients may reapply; however, priority is given to those who have not previously received the scholarship.
- Applicants may apply to multiple scholarships (Women in STEM, Persons Case, Women in Technical and Applied Arts), but can only receive one in the same calendar year.
