Western Accelerator redesign and 2026-27 dates
Western Accelerator was redesigned from a four-month single-track accelerator into a 12-week program with Validate, Launch, and Accelerate stages. Who is eligible?
- Entrepreneurs connected to Western University, including Western students, alumni, faculty, and employees
- At least one founder of the venture must have an eligible Western connection
- Up to two founders per company may participate in the program
- You do not need to have a fully launched business to apply
Who is not eligible
- Teams without a founder connected to Western
- Unregistered businesses
- Teams unable to commit full-time in person
- Student founders not available full-time during program hours
- Ideas or early-stage ventures without a minimum viable product

Selection criteria
- We look for founders who are prepared to work
- Founders should demonstrate curiosity, coachability, commitment, a willingness to test assumptions, and the ability to act on what they learn
- Different stages require different evidence, so a Validate applicant is not expected to have the same traction as an Accelerate company

Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed by an anonymous and diverse panel of judges.
- Top-ranked teams are invited to pitch to a selection committee.
- Selected teams are contacted and onboarding information is collected.
