Wawanesa Insurance - Wawanesa Climate Champions: Community Wildfire Prevention Grants

• Signed letter of support endorsing the project (from the local fire department or other authorizing organization)
• Completed budget template

• The applicant must be an eligible organization type (e.g., fire department, municipality, Indigenous community, association, non-profit, or community group).
• The proposed project must take place in Canada.
• The project must focus on wildfire risk reduction and prevention for the community.
• The proposed activities must aim to mitigate or prevent wildfire-related damage in the community.

• Fire departments
• Municipalities
• Indigenous communities
• Home or neighborhood associations
• Non-profit and charitable organizations
• Citizen groups and volunteer community groups

• Canada

• Complete a signed letter of support as proof of endorsement from your local fire department or other authorizing organization

• Complete the budget template that meets funding requirements
• Use the template to prepare for the budget questions in the application

• Fill out the application form
• Submit your grant funding request

• Grant recipients will be announced and funding awarded in March 2026.

• The program is delivered in partnership with FireSmart Canada and the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR).
