This program offers up to $20,000 per project to support community wildfire risk reduction in Canada. Eligible activities focus on prevention (e.g., changing behaviours) and mitigation (e.g., fuel reduction) to help prevent or reduce wildfire damage.
Activities funded
- Wildfire prevention initiatives that reduce the likelihood of wildfire (e.g., behaviour-change activities)
- Wildfire mitigation initiatives that reduce the impacts of wildfire (e.g., fuel reduction activities)
- Community projects aimed at preventing or reducing wildfire-related damage

Step 1: Secure endorsement
- Complete a signed letter of support as proof of endorsement from your local fire department or other authorizing organization
- Complete the budget template that meets funding requirements
- Use the template to prepare for the budget questions in the application
- Fill out the application form
- Submit your grant funding request
Processing and Agreement
- Grant recipients will be announced and funding awarded in March 2026.
