How to apply

  • Step 1: Try to settle with the company
    • Contact the company and attempt to negotiate a settlement.
  • Step 2: Contact the Alberta Energy Regulator
    • If settlement talks fail, contact the AER before applying.
    • The AER investigates and sends a report to the FAO.
  • Step 3: Complete the work and prepare the application
    • Finish the water source replacement or restoration work before applying.
    • Complete the WWRRP application forms.
    • Include receipts for all work undertaken.
  • Step 4: Submit to the Farmers' Advocate Office
    • Submit the application to the FAO within 2 years of the alleged damage.
  • Step 5: Attend the hearing
    • Attend the WWRRP Committee hearing and be prepared to present evidence.

Processing and Agreement

  • The Alberta Energy Regulator investigates and sends a report to the Farmers' Advocate Office.
  • The WWRRP Committee holds a hearing where the applicant presents evidence.
  • The applicant is notified in writing of the committee’s decision.
  • If reimbursement is approved, the decision is forwarded to the Alberta Energy Regulator for payment.
  • The committee’s decision is final and cannot be appealed.
