Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Incorporated non-profit organizations
  • Unincorporated collectives operating on a not-for-profit basis
  • Individual programmers or curators living in Toronto

Who is not eligible

  • Organizations or collectives receiving TAC operating funding
  • Schools in Ontario's public or private education system
  • Individuals creating or producing their own artworks
  • Educational or religious institutions without separate arts programming and budget
  • Projects outside the City of Toronto

Eligible expenses

  • Artist fees
  • Production and technical fees
  • Marketing and outreach costs
  • Administrative costs
  • Childcare costs
  • Accessibility costs for Deaf and disabled artists

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Completed or retroactive projects
  • Operating costs, including permanent staff salaries and general administration
  • Equipment purchases and capital projects
  • Publishing, archiving, awards, art therapy, fundraising events, and deficit reduction
  • Activities outside the City of Toronto

Selection criteria

  • Artistic merit
  • Contribution to Toronto's visual or media arts development
  • Impact on the applicant organization or artists involved
  • Public impact and audience development
  • Financial viability and ability to deliver the project

How to apply

  • Applicants register and submit the application on TAC Grants Online.
  • Applications must be submitted no later than 11:59 pm on the deadline dates.
  • TAC does not accept applications by any other means of delivery.
  • You will receive a confirmation email when your application is submitted.
  • Check your spam/junk mail folder if it doesn’t arrive in your in-box.

Processing and Agreement

  • Grants are awarded on a competitive basis by a panel of peers from the visual and media arts communities.
  • Decisions of the grant review panel are final.
  • Successful applicants will receive a Letter of Understanding.
  • The Letter of Understanding must be signed and uploaded to TAC Grants Online before funding can be released.
  • Recipients are required to file a final report on their project.
