USRA and SSRP application process updated
The USRA and SSRP application guidance now directs Dalhousie students to SharePoint, students without an active Dal NetID to the web application, and supervisors to a separate SharePoint form. It also says applicants must complete all questions, enter the supervisor’s correct email and department, and upload transcripts, while supervisors must attach a Tri-Agency CCV biosketch. The page also adds funder-specific eligibility review language and says applicants who do not meet the eligibility requirements will not receive the award and cannot be offered alternate funding. The SSRP description now welcomes students from all communities while prioritizing African Nova Scotian, Black, and Indigenous students.

- Black student researchers for CIHR and SSHRC USRAs.
- Students from all communities and backgrounds are welcome to apply to the Faculty of Medicine Summer Student Research Program.
Who is not eligible
- Students already in a graduate program.
- Students in an undergraduate professional degree in the health sciences, for non-CIHR awards.
- Students who have completed all degree requirements.
- Applicants without an eligible Faculty of Medicine supervisor.

How to apply

- Ensure you answer all questions.
- Upload your academic transcripts as Supporting Documents.
- Save your application, and an email will be sent to the named supervisor in your application requesting they complete the USRA/SSRP application.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed and ranked by the institution’s Scholarship Committee.
- Each institution applies its own internal selection process within agency guidelines.
- Successful applicants and supervisors are notified by email.
- Approved awards cannot be transferred to another institution.
