Eligibility
Who is eligible?
- Currently enrolled undergraduate students at the University of Calgary, including international students presently studying at the University of Calgary.
- Students in any faculty and any discipline.
- Students who have previously conducted student research through UREX may reapply in subsequent years.
Who is not eligible
- Students who have completed the requirements for their degree program.
- Students who are graduating in June.

- Using more than one funding source for the same project
- Additional government grants for the same project

How to apply
- Find a research supervisor.
- Prepare your proposal.
- Work with your supervisor to submit your application by the deadline.
Processing and Agreement
- The adjudication of the UREX Award Program applications is conducted through faculty-based committees.
- Each application is reviewed independently by two faculty members who have a relevant area of expertise.
- Successful students will be notified by early April in coordination with other summer studentship awards.
- Students offered a UREX award will be required to accept or decline the offer by a date specified in the offer notification.
- During their research term, UREX students must complete an entry and end-point evaluation survey and submit a report of their experience after the term.

- Applications are submitted through AwardSpring, the central application system.
- Applicants may be considered for all awards they are eligible for through one application.
- Research involving human participants, animals, or bio-hazard materials requires ethics approval before the project begins.
