Eligibility
Who is eligible?
- Qualified Veterans
Who is not eligible
- Veterans whose physical or mental health problem resulted primarily from service in the CAF on or before April 1, 1947, or from service in the Korean War
- Veterans whose physical or mental health problem was caused by a willful self-inflicted injury or improper conduct
- Serving CAF members who have not yet released
Eligible expenses
- medical, nursing and related healthcare; aids for daily living; special equipment; prescription medication; as well as dental, audiology, or vision services
- travel expenses incurred by the Veteran when travelling to receive healthcare services or benefits
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- VAC does not cover ambulance services needed as a result of an accident when services are covered by a 3rd party.
Eligible geographic areas
- No residency in Canada is required for Veteran eligibility
