Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Individuals from Arab countries (22 member states of the Arab League)
  • Teams, collectives, and institutions
  • Local, regional, and international institutions and organizations whose projects are related to arts and culture from the Arab region, including artistic and cultural institutions, galleries, venues, and both nonprofit and for-profit entities

Who is not eligible

  • AFAC board of trustees and AFAC staff members, their business partners, or family members
  • Members of the current year’s reader and juror committees for the categories they are evaluating
  • Recipients of grants in two consecutive years are not eligible to apply for the next two consecutive years
  • Applicants with a current open grant
  • Each applicant can submit only one application during each open call

Eligible expenses

  • Project-related expenses, including materials, space or equipment rentals, and fees for artistic and technical labor and collaboration
  • Travel expenses that are part of a project’s implementation and/or research

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Mobility grants
  • Projects that have already been completed are not supported retroactively
  • Expenses incurred before the agreement’s signature date for projects that have already started

How to apply

  • Submit your application through the online form.
  • Applications submitted by regular mail or email will not be considered.

Processing and Agreement

  • After the call closes, applications are reviewed for completeness and compliance with the guidelines; applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria or are missing required materials are disqualified.
  • Eligible applications are sent to an independent committee of readers for a first selection.
  • The first selection is reviewed by an independent jury committee, which uses the same criteria and makes the final selection decision.
  • Selected projects are announced on the website and social media, and applicants receive an email before the announcement.
  • Selected grantees sign a grant agreement and must submit narrative and financial reports.
