Overview
The Toronto Commercial Façade Improvement Grant Program provides up to $12,500 to assist commercial property owners and tenants in redesigning, renovating, or restoring street-facing building facades. Eligible activities include masonry work, new doors and windows, exterior painting, accessibility upgrades, and other improvements enhancing the visual appeal and accessibility of commercial properties.
Financing terms and conditions
- Grant covers 50% of the costs of eligible improvements, up to a maximum of $12,500 for $25,000 in improvements.
- Minimum grant amount is $2,500 for $5,000 in improvements.
- Additional funding covers 50% of the costs for AODA accessibility upgrades, up to a maximum of $2,500 for $5,000 in improvements.
- For multiunit properties, an additional $2,500 per extra unit is available, up to five units and a maximum bonus grant of $12,500.

Eligibility
- The applicant must be either the owner of a commercial property or a commercial tenant with the property owner’s permission.
- The commercial building must have street-level commercial use; upper floors may have commercial or residential uses.
- The building façade must face a public road or a right-of-way accessible to the public.
- The proposed project must include a minimum of three eligible façade improvements.

- Properties used as places of worship.
- Properties with public institutional uses.
- Not-for-profit organizations.
- Residential properties without street-level commercial uses.

- Installation of new doors and windows
- Outdoor decorative or security lighting
- Outdoor security equipment
- Outdoor entrance tiling
- Installation of canopies or awnings
- Repair of cornices, parapets, and architectural features
- Outdoor wall-mounted signs
- Exterior painting (if painting existing painted brick or stucco)
- Wheelchair accessibility ramping
- Accessible railings
- Accessible door openers meeting AODA standards
