Eligibility
Who is eligible?
- Qualified donees as per the Canada Revenue Agency.
- A registered charity.
- A registered national arts service organization, a registered Canadian amateur athletic association, or a registered housing corporation resident in Canada constituted exclusively to provide low-cost housing for the aged.
- A registered Canadian municipality, or a registered municipal or public body performing a function of government in Canada.
- A registered university outside Canada that is prescribed to be a university, the student body of which ordinarily includes students from Canada; a registered charitable organization outside Canada to which His Majesty in right of Canada has made a gift; His Majesty in right of Canada, a province, or a territory; and the United Nations and its agencies.
Who is not eligible
- Individuals.
- A charity that does not fulfill the criteria of a previous grant.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Projects that promote the aims of a specific religion, ideology or political party.

Selection criteria
- Grant applications are reviewed and scored by our Evaluation Committee.
- Projects are then ranked based on their scores.
- Funding is awarded starting from the highest-ranked applications until the available funds are fully allocated.
- If you are requesting the full amount, your project must demonstrate a broad community impact, be innovative, and clearly address a significant local need.

Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed and scored by an Evaluation Committee.
- Projects are ranked based on their scores.
- Funding is awarded starting with the highest-ranked applications until funds are fully allocated.
- Applicants are notified after the review process.
- Successful recipients must complete a grant agreement and final report.
Additional information
- Applications are accepted once a year.
- Applicants who received a grant the previous year must complete all obligations before applying again.
- Grant recipients must recognize the Thunder Bay Community Foundation in an appropriate manner.
- The Foundation may review project documentation and progress.
