Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Projects from or for the benefit of an individual
  • Debt reduction or operating deficits
  • General operating costs not linked to a project that meets the granting criteria

  • Furniture or capital equipment purchases

Selection criteria

  • Applications are reviewed and rated based on the sacred teachings of humility, bravery, honesty, wisdom, truth, respect, and love.
  • Applications are reviewed based on the Calls to the Church.
  • Applications are reviewed based on the principles, norms, and standards of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
  • Priority is given to first-time applicants.

How to apply

  • Download an application from the United Church website under Healing Fund or contact the Healing Programs Coordinator for assistance.
  • Carefully review the Healing Fund Criteria and Guidelines.
  • Fill out the application.
  • Submit the application and supporting documents by mail, fax, or e-mail by the deadline.

Processing and Agreement

  • The Healing Programs Working Group reviews and rates applications before the meeting.
  • Applications for bursaries and scholarships are reviewed using a blindfold process.
  • Applications are approved by consensus.
  • Members decide on scholarship and bursary award amounts each cycle in consultation with the United Church Foundation.
  • Priority is given to first-time applicants.
