Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Consortiums of collaboration.

Who is not eligible

  • Companies that are not legally entitled to do business in Canada or lack a significant Canadian business operation.
  • Projects that are classified as a “designated project” or a “project” under applicable federal environmental and impact assessment legislation.
  • Entities that are not compliant with all economic or financial sanctions or trade embargoes imposed, administered or enforced by the Government of Canada.

Eligible expenses

  • Salaries and benefits for personnel directly involved in the project.
  • Costs of equipment and materials required for the project.
  • Contracted services and consultancy fees related to project execution.
  • Travel expenses necessary for the completion of project activities.
  • Project administration fee (4% of total eligible reconciled project costs, up to a certain maximum).
  • Other direct costs essential for implementing the project, as outlined in the program guide and budget documentation.

Eligible geographic areas

  • Canadian companies or multi-national corporations with significant operations in Canada
  • Non-Canadian entities may participate with approval from Protein Industries Canada
  • For joint Canada-UK projects: at least one Canadian SME and one UK company are required as consortium partners

  • Relevance and feasibility of the project’s data justification.
  • The interest of the overall project for Canada.

  • Send an email to projects@proteinsupercluster.ca with the company name, contact person and title, phone number, website, and brief project description.
  • The application process has two parts: an Expression of Interest and a Full Project Proposal.

Processing and Agreement

  • If a project meets initial eligibility requirements, the Project team will reach out to schedule a preliminary meeting.
  • The first meeting must be held before an Expression of Interest is submitted.
  • EOIs are reviewed on an ongoing basis, allowing successful submissions to move to the next step in the process in a timely manner.
