Overview
Technical Assistance Grants provide up to $4,000 to CWCF member co-ops for specialty consulting services. Smaller amounts may be available for non-member co-op start-ups, conversions, and expansions for approved consulting support.
Activities funded
- Specialized consulting mandates to support co-op operations and development
- Marketing advisory projects
- Governance improvement initiatives supported by expert consulting

Documents Needed
Eligibility
- The applicant must be a CWCF member co-op, or a non-member co-op start-up, conversion, or expansion.
- The request must be for specialty consulting services mutually agreed by the organization, the co-op developer/consultant, and CWCF.
- For non-members, consulting services must be delivered by a CoopZone Co-operative Developers’ Network member or another consultant approved by CWCF.

How to apply
- Step 1: Check availability
- Confirm that funding is currently available.
- Step 2: Confirm fit and consulting approach
- Identify the specialty consulting service needed (e.g., marketing, financial administration, governance, expansion, conflict resolution, legal issues).
- Ensure the consulting engagement is mutually agreed among the organization, the co-op developer/consultant, and CWCF.
- If you are a non-member, ensure the consultant is a CoopZone Co-operative Developers’ Network member or another consultant approved by CWCF.
- Step 3: Contact the program to proceed
- Contact the designated program representative to determine availability and next steps.
Processing and Agreement
Additional information
- A limited number of awards may be allocated each year.
- If demand from existing members is low, some support may be available to start-up groups working toward incorporation.
- Start-up groups supported before incorporation are required to commit to joining CWCF upon incorporation.
