Team Grant: GACD 2026: NCD Multi Sectors (Implementation Science to Tackle Non-Communicable Diseases: Maximizing Collaboration and Coordination Beyond Healthcare Systems)

• GACD Stage 1 Application PDF, including participant CVs and the research proposal
• Participant Table for all applicant team members, including collaborators

Who is eligible?

• Independent researchers affiliated with a Canadian postsecondary institution and/or its affiliated institutions, including hospitals, research institutes and other non-profit organizations with a mandate for health research and/or knowledge translation
• Individuals affiliated with an Indigenous non-governmental organization in Canada with a research and/or knowledge translation mandate, for projects involving Indigenous Peoples in Canada
• Indigenous non-governmental organizations in Canada with a research and/or knowledge translation mandate, for projects involving Indigenous Peoples in Canada

Eligible expenses

• Release Time Allowance to facilitate the participation of knowledge users in the research project
• Accessibility supports needed for the NPA or team members, including specialized equipment, support services, compensation, and alternate document formats, excluding standard employer provisions
• Expenditures that respect the culture and traditions of Indigenous peoples, including community mobilization and engagement costs such as tobacco, cloth, feasting, gift giving, and cash reimbursements
• Contracts and/or consultant fees for knowledge translation and communication activities for Indigenous Elders, community members, and Indigenous Knowledge Keepers involved in activities related to the Indigenous community

• Relevance and quality of the project in relation to the grant call
• Quality and expertise of the team
• Feasibility of the project
• Expected impact
• Within each funding pool, tied scores give priority to applications requesting co-funding from participating GACD members

• Submit the Stage 1 application to GACD in English only.
• Complete the CIHR Stage 1 application in one of the two official languages of Canada and submit it using ResearchNet.
• Attach the GACD Stage 1 application PDF as an Other document in the CIHR Stage 1 application.
• If Stage 1 is successful, submit the Stage 2 application to GACD in English only.
• Complete the CIHR Stage 2 application in one of the two official languages of Canada and submit it using ResearchNet.

• CIHR-IPPH and CIHR-ICRH perform a relevance review on Stage 1 applications using the Summary of Research Proposal and Relevance Form.
• Stage 1 applications not deemed relevant are withdrawn from the competition.
• GACD coordinates a two-stage peer review process, and successful shortlisted applicants are invited to submit Stage 2 applications.
• Applications focusing on Indigenous Peoples' health are reviewed by individuals with appropriate expertise, including Indigenous ways of knowing and the Tri-Council Policy Statement 2 Chapter 9.
• After Stage 2 review, CIHR receives the ranking list, scores, and recommendations on funding level and grant term for applications in the fundable range, and the Nominated Principal Applicant is responsible for annual manual reports and an electronic Final Report.
