Who is eligible?
- Consortia made up of research teams from Canada and Finland.
Eligible expenses
- Research operating costs for the proposed collaborative research program.
- Purchase of equipment and maintenance contracts for common services and shared facilities, as well as data collection, database, and information-holding maintenance.
- Regional, national, and international networking, collaboration, planning, knowledge exchange, linkage, and dissemination activities directly related to the international research program.
- Salaries of research assistants, technicians, other research personnel, and a professional coordinator.
- Support of research trainees at the rate specified by CIHR for trainees paid from research grants.
How to apply
- Complete Phase 1 by preparing a joint Letter of Intent.
- The Finnish consortium leader submits the LOI through the Academy of Finland online services.
- For Canadian applicants, submit the application through ResearchNet and upload the signed signature pages, including the routing slip, in the Print/Upload Signature Pages task before submitting.
- Complete the Canadian tasks: identify the participants, enter project information and supporting documents, enter budget information and supporting documents, and print/upload the signature page.
- Complete Phase 2 by preparing a joint Full Application.
- The Finnish consortium leader submits the Full Application through the Academy of Finland online services.
Processing and Agreement
- The Academy of Finland manages the review process.
- Successful applicants will be informed of any special financial requirements before funds are released or when they receive CIHR's Authorization for Funding document.
- Funded research teams must submit a final report to the Academy of Finland and CIHR when the projects are completed.
- The Nominated Principal Applicant must participate in CIHR monitoring, review, and evaluation activities and encourage associates, trainees, and administration to participate as required.
- Grant recipients must acknowledge CIHR, its institutes, and partners in communications or publications related to the project.
