Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Independent researchers affiliated with Canadian postsecondary institutions and related health research organizations.
  • Individuals affiliated with Indigenous non-governmental organizations in Canada with a research or knowledge translation mandate.
  • Indigenous non-governmental organizations in Canada with a research or knowledge translation mandate.

Who is not eligible

  • Applicants who submit more than one application as NPA.
  • Projects outside the extended or permanent cancer survivorship phases.
  • Projects focused on cancer recurrence or new cancers after primary treatment.
  • Basic discovery research without survivorship relevance.

Eligible expenses

  • Translation and preparation of public-facing materials.
  • Release time allowance for eligible knowledge users.
  • Compensation for patient partners.
  • Community engagement and Indigenous cultural expenses.
  • Accessibility supports for the research team.

  • Originality, feasibility, and strength of the research approach.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Registration
    • Identify participants.
    • Complete proposal information and summary.
    • Select one funding pool.
    • Delegate access if needed.
  • Step 2: Full Application
    • Upload required CVs and supporting documents.
    • Submit the research proposal and relevance form.
    • Upload the Data Management Plan, SGBA certificates, and other required materials.
    • Provide budget justification and participant table.
    • Print and upload signature pages.
  • Step 3: Submission through ResearchNet
    • Submit the full application in ResearchNet before the deadline.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications undergo a relevance review at the full application stage.
  • Applications must fit both the program objectives and one specific research area.

  • SGBA certificates are required for the NPA and all PAs.
