Who is eligible?
- Registered Canadian charities with a Charitable Registration Number.
- Educational institutions (primary, secondary, post-secondary).
- Municipalities.
- Indigenous groups and communities.

Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Projects already underway, and expenses incurred before the application date.
- Infrastructure and capital costs, including sheds, solar panels, low flush toilets and water refill stations.
- Administrative, contingency or operating expenses; shade structures; playground equipment; ornamental landscaping or beautification.
- Conferences; land acquisition; advocacy activities; projects on private land with no public access; scholarships, grants or bursaries; awards and prizes; mileage, accommodation, meal costs or other travel expenses; venue rentals.
- Projects taking place outside Canada; research projects; pesticides for any purpose.
Selection criteria
- If a project includes play elements, TD FEF prioritizes projects that use natural materials and provide age-appropriate environmental learning opportunities to young children.
How to apply
- All grant applications must be submitted online.
- Once successfully submitted, you will receive an automatic acknowledgement.
Processing and Agreement
- Once the application is successfully submitted, an automatic acknowledgement is sent.
- Each application is reviewed by one of six Regional Advisory Boards made up of TD employees and environmental leaders from communities across the region.
- Applications for funding are reviewed two times per year.
- Applicants are notified in April or October, depending on the submission period.
