The Community Fund application content now shows the full Funding Eligibility Criteria & Submission Guidelines, including the updated date of February 23, 2026, funding up to $10,000 per project, and up to $30,000 in total grants this year. Eligibility
Who is eligible?
- Anyone who submits an application must reside in northern Ontario within Tbaytel’s serving territory and be 18 years of age or older.
- Those under the age of majority must have their ideas approved, endorsed and submitted by a responsible adult.
Who is not eligible
- For-profit groups, committees, organizations or businesses.
- Political parties.
- Individuals or individual families who require financial support for personal purposes.
- Individuals, organizations or groups that discriminate by race, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion or nationality.
- Religious groups or organizations; universities or colleges or organizations, associations or clubs affiliated with a registered college or university; Tbaytel employees, dealers and contractors are not eligible to submit an application for funding.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Projects that take place outside of Tbaytel’s serving territory or projects where the resulting activities benefits individuals outside of Tbaytel’s serving territory.
- Projects that seek support solely for salaries and wages; one-time fees to hire individuals for an event, project or initiative are acceptable if this does not account for 100% of the requested funding amount.
- Sponsorship, advertising and promotional costs that make up 100% of the requested funding amount and will primarily generate financial returns.
- Activities that will result in a negative impact to the environment or can potentially harm the Tbaytel brand.
Eligible geographic areas
- Atikokan, Batchwana Bay, Fraser River, Geraldton, Marathon, Miraki, Searchmont, Shabaqua, Beardmore, Hawk Junction, Montreal River, Sioux Lookout, Bellevue, Caramat, Chapleau, Dryden, Dubreuilville, Ear Falls, Hemlo, and Hornepayne.
- Hudson, Ignace, Kenora, Longlac, Morson, Nakina, Nipigon, Perrault Falls, Rainy River, Raith, Fort Frances, Manitouwadge, Red Lake, Terrace Bay, Thunder Bay, Upsala, Wawa, and White River.
Selection criteria
- The Selection Committee reviews all submissions and scores each project.
- Each criterion is given a score from 1 to 5.
- Judging criteria include Impact, Beneficiaries, Feasibility, and Budget.
- Projects with the top scores are awarded funding.
How to apply
- Review the Eligibility Requirements and the full Tbaytel for Good Community Fund Terms & Conditions.
- Complete the short online application form at www.tbaytelforgood.net with all pertinent information and your requested funding level.
- Include a brief project description, a complete budget breakdown, and a recorded video of no more than 60 seconds filmed horizontally.
- Submit the project submission form and video using the WeTransfer link.
- If prompted, enter the validation code sent to the email address provided in the WeTransfer email field.
Processing and Agreement
- At the specified selection date, the Selection Committee and the Administrator screen all Applications for eligibility, completeness and compliance with the Funding Eligibility Criteria and Submission Guidelines, as well as the Terms & Conditions.
- The Selection Committee reviews all submissions and scores each project.
- After a project is approved for funding, a Funding Agreement is sent to the successful Applicant.
- Once the Funding Agreement has been signed by someone with the legal authority to bind the project or organization and returned to Tbaytel, the total funding amount will be paid, provided any special conditions have been met.
- All funding recipients are required to report on the work for which they receive funding; final reports for funding durations of one year or less must be submitted no later than the end of the year using the Tbaytel for Good reporting forms provided in the Funding Agreement package.
