Who is eligible?
- Low income seniors aged 65 or older who are in receipt of or qualify for GIS or GAINS.
- Low income persons with disabilities who are in receipt of or qualify for ODSP or GAINS.
- Registered charities occupying commercial or industrial property in Pickering that have a registered number with Canada Customs and Revenue Agency.
How to apply
- Submit the completed online application form with the required supporting documents, or print the application form and submit it with the required supporting documents.
- Send it by email, drop it off in person at Pickering City Hall or the Dropbox outside the building, mail it to the Taxation Section at One The Esplanade S, Pickering, Ontario, L1V 6K7, or fax it to the City of Pickering Taxation Section.
- For the Registered Charity Tax Rebate Application, mail or fax the completed form to the City of Pickering Taxation Section.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are processed only after the required supporting documents are received.
- If approved, the credit is applied to the account; no cheques will be issued.
- The rebate is applied to offset the final instalment of property taxes in late September.
- Applicants must certify that the information is true and notify the City of any changes that would affect eligibility.
Additional information
- Only one application per household can be made each year for the senior or disability tax grant.
- An application cannot be submitted by an owner for more than one property per year.
- You must reapply every year if you have received the rebate in previous years.
