Who is eligible?
- Any Canadian private entity is eligible to be an applicant and submit an application for funding under this fund.
Eligible expenses
- Goods, services, and professional and technical costs required to plan and conduct project activities.
- Capital items with no residual value beyond the project scope.
- Depreciation costs of capital items that have a residual value beyond the project scope.
- Capacity building and transportation costs for projects involving rural, remote or regional communities.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Research-only focused projects.
- Feasibility-only focused studies, including pre-feasibility, feasibility, engineering studies, business cases, or similar studies.
- Commercial technology projects that are not truly First-of-Kind in BC.
- Projects that do not have a near-term pathway to commercialization and market deployment in BC.
Selection criteria
- Applications that meet mandatory criteria are evaluated against weighted criteria worth 100 points.
- Additional desirable project attributes are scored for 20 points.
- Projects aligned with the preferred themes are prioritized for funding, and projects outside these themes may be screened out if sufficient high-quality applications are received.
- Successful proposals are ranked based on application and detailed proposal scores, preferred project types, and Targeted Call portfolio fit.
How to apply
- Email completed applications to icefund@gov.bc.ca during the application window.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications will be reviewed by the evaluation team, and the strongest applications meeting the evaluation criteria will be invited to submit a detailed proposal.
- Detailed proposals will be evaluated by the evaluation team and technical reviewers, and proposals meeting minimum score requirements will be asked to participate in an online presentation and may undergo further due diligence.
- Successful proposals are ranked based on application and detailed proposal scores, preferred project types, and Targeted Call portfolio fit.
- Successful applicants will be notified before November 30, 2026 and offered the opportunity to sign a contract with the Province.
- Fund recipients must submit project completion reporting and simplified annual performance reporting for each calendar year post completion, to December 31, 2034.

- The ICE Fund’s Open Call for Innovation and Partnerships remains open and is accepting applications.
- Applications may be reviewed concurrently by another BC government administered fund and may be referred to the Open Call or another BC government fund.
