Overview

This funding provides up to $5,000 to support charitable programs serving youth in the Waterloo Region. Both new and existing youth-focused initiatives may be considered.

Examples of admissible projects:

Eligibility

  • Organization is based in the Waterloo Region and delivers most services within the region
  • Organization may serve a specific area within the region or the Waterloo Region at large
  • Organization is a registered charity or has a fiscal sponsor with a charity number
  • Program serves youth (preferred)

Who is eligible?

  • Registered charities delivering programs in the Waterloo Region
  • Organizations with a fiscal sponsor that has a charity number
  • Religious organizations offering programs open to anyone regardless of religious affiliation

Who is not eligible

  • Organizations not based in the Waterloo Region or not delivering the majority of services within the region
  • Organizations that are not registered charities and do not have a fiscal sponsor with a charity number
  • Religious organizations whose program is restricted by religious affiliation

Selection criteria

How to apply

Step 1: Confirm eligibility
  • Ensure the organization is based in the Waterloo Region and provides most services within the region.
  • Confirm the organization is a registered charity or has a fiscal sponsor with a charity number.
Step 2: Submit an application by the program deadline
  • Submit the application for consideration by the stated deadline.
Step 3: Participate in short-list pitch meeting (if invited)
  • Attend the SVP Teens meeting at Communitech on April 7.
  • Deliver a short pitch and participate in a conversation about the organization.
Step 4: Await decision
  • Monitor for the selection decision, with one recipient expected to be chosen in May.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are short-listed before the next stage.
  • Short-listed organizations are invited to present a short pitch and discuss their organization at an SVP Teens meeting.
  • One organization is selected as the recipient in May.

Additional information

  • Religious organizations may apply if the program serves anyone regardless of religious affiliation.
  • Short-listed organizations will be invited to present a short pitch and participate in a conversation at an SVP Teens meeting.
  • The pitch meeting is scheduled for April 7 at Communitech in Kitchener, Ontario.
  • One organization is expected to be selected as the recipient in May.
