How to apply

  • Step 1: Prepare the initial proposal
    • Complete the online initial proposal form.
  • Step 2: Submit the application package
    • Planning projects use the online application and project workbook.
    • Studies, pilots and capital projects use the application guide and initial proposal form.
  • Step 3: Eligibility review
    • A GMF Project Officer reviews the initial proposal.
    • If eligible, the full application and project workbook are provided.

Processing and Agreement

  • Initial proposals are reviewed for eligibility by a GMF Project Officer.
  • If eligible, applicants receive the full application and project workbook.
  • Funding is not guaranteed after eligibility review.

Additional information

  • The program will reopen funding on a smaller scale with pre-construction grants for retrofit projects.
  • A full program update is expected in the summer of 2026.
  • No-cost supports remain available, including Regional Energy Coaches, toolkits and guides, and learning and training resources.
