- Professional fees and compensation for funded activities
- Honoraria for Elders and Knowledge Keepers
- Equipment purchases directly tied to the activity, up to 15% of the requested grant amount
- Safety-related costs, child or dependent care, and public accessibility expenses
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Expenses already covered by another Canada Council grant
- Ongoing operating expenses not tied to the funded activity
- Capital costs for buying or renovating a building, or operating and maintenance costs for a facility

Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed after submission by a peer assessment committee
- Results are usually provided within 5 months of the application deadline
- Funding is not guaranteed and applications must meet the minimum score in each assessment category
- Applications must also satisfy the respectful and ethical cultural and artistic practices criterion

- The Canada Council is transitioning to a new funding portal, with the current portal becoming unavailable starting May 26, 2025.
