Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Canadian Armed Forces Regular Force members.
  • Canadian Armed Forces Reserve Force members.
  • CAF members applying as athletes, coaches, or officials.

Eligible expenses

  • Competition entry fees or in-person course fees.
  • Local community league fees.
  • Transportation costs such as airfare, gas, or car rental.
  • Accommodation and meals.
  • In-person professional development such as courses or workshops for coaches and officials.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Meal or transportation costs for local leagues.
  • Non-competitive fitness activities such as yoga, Pilates, Zumba, self-defense, and gym memberships.
  • Participation in sports events or activities organized by the CAF or its units.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Complete the online application
    • Use the program’s online form to submit your request.
  • Step 2: Submit before the deadline
    • Send the application at least 30 days before the event.
    • Applications for 2026-2027 are accepted from March 9, 2026 to February 28, 2027.
  • Step 3: Wait for review and reimbursement
    • CAF Sports HQ reviews the application.
    • If approved, reimbursements are handled by CAF Sports HQ.

  • Applications are reviewed by CAF Sports HQ.
  • Reimbursements are also handled by CAF Sports HQ.
  • The program is in a three-year pilot phase with ongoing evaluation and improvements.
