Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Registered owners of lands and buildings
  • Agents authorized by the registered owner

Eligible expenses

  • Development or redevelopment that creates a new additional residential rental unit or Dwelling, Secondary Suite
  • Works or upgrades required to achieve compliance with building/fire codes or to legalize an existing unit
  • Development or redevelopment that results in the establishment of a Garden Suite
  • Professional fees for designs or services reasonably associated with the eligible works

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Cosmetic, material lifecycle replacement, or otherwise visual improvements to an existing dwelling, secondary suite or garden suite

  • Entire Municipality

How to apply

  • Arrange a pre-consultation with the CIP Coordinator to discuss the project, identify eligibility, review applicable streams, and receive preliminary feedback
  • Submit the application with the supporting information and materials identified at pre-consultation
  • Wait for the CIP Coordinator to review the application for completeness and general eligibility
  • If the application is accepted, it is forwarded to the Implementation Committee for review and then to Council or the delegated committee for a final decision

Processing and Agreement

  • Once an application is approved by Council, the applicant may commence the community improvement works
  • Payment of the financial incentive is provided upon successful completion of the approved works
  • Before payment is issued, the applicant must provide final supporting documentation
  • The Municipality may request photographs of the completed work or perform a final site visit and inspection
