Overview

The Strategic Jobs Investment Fund (SJIF) offered grants and loans to attract investments in innovative projects, promoting the creation of high-value jobs and the development of key sectors in Ontario. This program aimed to support activities such as the growth of strategic capacities, the development of industrial clusters, and expansion in advanced technologies, financial services, information technology, and life sciences.

Financing terms and conditions

$7 million grant to Taro Pharmaceuticals for a $247 million total investment, creating/retaining 535 jobs.
$7.05 million grant to Heroux-Devtek for a $54.2 million total investment, creating/retaining 90 jobs.
In 2014-15, $14.05 million in funding supported $301.2 million in total investment commitments, creating/retaining 625 jobs.
Total Ontario government support exceeded $865 million, leveraging more than $11.8 billion in business investment and helping create and retain over 31,000 highly skilled jobs.

The applicant must be a business undertaking a leading-edge project in Ontario.
