Overview
Provides seed funding of up to $5,000 per project (and may consider up to $10,000 at RDN discretion) to support community stewardship actions that monitor, safeguard, and enhance local watersheds. Eligible activities include restoration, research, and enhancement projects that actively improve stream health, hydrology, or function within the Regional District of Nanaimo.

- Community-level actions to monitor, safeguard, and enhance local watersheds.
- Restoration projects benefiting creeks, streams, rivers, estuaries, or wetlands.
- Research projects benefiting creeks, streams, rivers, estuaries, or wetlands.
- Enhancement projects that improve stream health, hydrology, or function.
- Projects informed by recommended actions from RDN-supported stream assessments or water quality monitoring.

Eligibility
- Applicant is a volunteer-based, not-for-profit stewardship group.
- The project is located within the Regional District of Nanaimo.
- The project benefits a creek, stream, river, estuary, or wetland within the Regional District of Nanaimo.
- The project actively enhances stream health, hydrology, or function.
- The project involves volunteers and includes partner funding and/or in-kind contributions.
Who is eligible?
- Volunteer-based, not-for-profit stewardship groups
Who is not eligible
- Organizations that are not non-profit and volunteer-based
- Projects that have received funding for three consecutive years

- Regional District of Nanaimo (British Columbia)
How to apply
- Step 1: Prepare application package
- Complete the application form.
- Gather supporting documents.
- Collect “before” photos of the project site.
- Step 2: Submit application
- Email the package to waterstewardship@rdn.bc.ca, or mail it to: Attn: Drinking Water & Watershed Protection Program, Regional District of Nanaimo, 6300 Hammond Bay Road, Nanaimo BC, V9T 6N2.
Processing and Agreement
- After receiving submission confirmation, the application is processed and a response is provided to the application contact within two to three weeks.
Additional information
- Apply early as limited funds are available each year.
- Priority may be given to projects based on recommended actions from RDN-supported stream assessments or water quality monitoring.
