Who is eligible?
- Individuals aged 18 and over who are out of school and interested in pursuing a career in entrepreneurship.
- Individuals interested in starting a new business, expanding, or purchasing an existing business that has been operating for five years or less within the City of Peterborough and Peterborough County.
Who is not eligible
- Applicants who are not currently enrolled in school or who will return to school within the next 12 months.
- Applicants who are not residents of Ontario or are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
- Applicants who have previously received a Starter Company Plus grant for the same business or for any other business within the City of Peterborough or Peterborough County.
- Businesses that are franchises, commissioned sales, distributorships, not-for-profit, social enterprise, co-operatives, charitable enterprises, multi-level marketing ventures, one-time events, or strictly pay-per-click or 1-800 number businesses.
- Participants undertaking business activities involving discrimination prohibited by the Ontario Human Rights Code.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Franchises, commissioned sales, and distributorships.
- Not-for-profit, social enterprise, co-operatives, or charitable enterprises.
- Multi-level marketing ventures.
- A one-time event, such as a festival, party, celebration, or race.
- Businesses that are strictly pay-per-click or 1-800 number businesses.

Processing and Agreement
- Accepted applicants must complete mandatory training sessions.
- Upon completing the program, participants will submit their final business plan and pitch for a chance to receive a grant of up to $5,000.
