How to apply
- Receive the damage report from the Ministry of Internal Security through the case officer and check that all information is complete and accurate.
- Apply to your municipality for a repair or demolition permit.
- After the municipality receives the permit, send it to the case officer so the financial assistance can be determined based on the permit issued.
- Complete and sign the choice form provided by the case officer and return it within 30 days of the date on the ministry letter; this deadline may be extended if you can show in writing that you were unable to comply.
- Before demolition begins, submit at least two quotes from qualified contractors with a valid Régie du bâtiment du Québec licence and all required permits and authorizations. If you cede the land, also provide the land transfer offer and municipal resolution.
- At the end of the work, submit the municipal attestation, demolition invoices, and notarized deed of land transfer, if applicable.
Processing and Agreement
- When the damage report is produced by the Ministry of Internal Security, the case officer sends you a copy.
- After the municipality receives the permit, you must send it to the case officer so the financial assistance can be determined based on the permit issued.
- You can request a review of a decision within 2 months of receiving the Ministry of Internal Security’s decision.
