Overview

This funding provides up to $15,000 to support community initiatives that remove barriers for girls in sport and physical activity. Eligible activities can include cultural, land-based, play and game-based programs, and programming that supports reconnecting with one’s identity.

Activities funded

  • Initiatives that help keep girls participating in sport and physical activity
  • Initiatives that increase girls’ leadership capacity or representation in sport and physical activity
  • Initiatives that enhance an organization’s capacity for gender equity and inclusion
  • Cultural sport and physical activity programs
  • Land-based, play-based, and game-based programs, including programming that supports reconnecting with one’s identity
Examples of admissible projects:

Weekly multi-sport program building newcomer girls’ skills and leadership

Land-based paddling program empowering Indigenous and 2SLGBTQIA+ girls

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a community sport and physical activity organization.
  • The initiative must remove barriers and expand opportunities for girls from the identified equity-deserving communities.
  • A minimum of 80% of participants in the initiative must identify with or belong to the identified communities.
  • The initiative must serve communities in Canada.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are assessed by the funding organization.
