How to apply
- Since 1 November 2023, you can submit your application online through the Permanent Residence Portal.
- If you cannot apply online and need accommodations, you can request an alternate format: braille, large print, or paper.
- To request an alternate format, prepare a new email.
Processing and Agreement
- After the application is reviewed, the sponsored refugee’s permanent residence application is sent to a visa office abroad for review.
- If approved, the visa office issues a visa for each approved refugee and contacts the International Organization for Migration to arrange travel to Canada.
- If the application is refused, the applicant is informed why.
- After submission, sponsors should keep their contact information up to date for themselves and the refugees they are sponsoring.
