Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Canadian persons.
  • Canadian-owned and controlled companies.
  • Organizations with an appropriate project.

Who is not eligible

  • Projects benefiting only one artist or one company.
  • Applicants already funded through Company Envelope or Promoter Programs.
  • Applicants seeking funding from both this program and the Collective Initiatives program for the same project in the same fiscal year.

Eligible expenses

  • Canadian goods and services used in Canada.
  • Approved project expenses, including artist fees when specifically authorized.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Food and beverage festivals.
  • Instrument purchases.
  • Music schools and student projects.
  • Talent contests, fundraisers, parades, and award shows.
  • Projects benefiting only one artist or one company, or involving sound recording or video creation and release.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Submit a Letter of Intent by email.
  • Step 2: If approved, create a User Profile and an Applicant Profile in the FACTOR portal.
  • Step 3: Submit the application through the FACTOR portal under the Projects tab.

Processing and Agreement

  • Eligible applications are reviewed against the program’s intent and selection criteria.
  • Approved applicants must sign funding agreements before payment is issued.
  • Funding is paid in two stages: an advance and a final payment after completion is reviewed and accepted.
  • Successful applicants must submit a completion report after the project.

Additional information

  • Activities can be in any language except French.
  • A Letter of Intent is required before applying.
  • Applicants must submit a Completion for prior funded projects and meet reporting obligations.
  • Funding may be conditional on specific expenses and proof of disbursement.
