Overview
Selected applicants can receive up to $3,000 to advance a new tourism idea in Northwest Ontario. Funding supports tourism idea development activities and is paired with a 3-month mentorship and access to a support network.
Activities funded
- Development of new tourism ideas for Northwest Ontario
- Initiatives that enhance current tourism offerings
- Creation of high-quality tourism experiences
- Projects that address gaps in tourism products and services
- Ideas that motivate travel, longer stays, repeat visits, and year-round tourism spending
Examples of admissible projects:

Pilot a four-season guided shoreline storytelling micro-tour experience

Launch a pop-up sunset paddle and mobile sauna wellness package
Documents Needed
- Short video (up to 1 minute) introducing the applicant and the tourism idea
Eligibility
- The applicant must be a small non-profit organization or community group.
- The applicant must be based in Northwest Ontario.
- The organization must have up to 10 full-time, year-round employees.
- The application must propose a new tourism idea for Northwest Ontario.

How to apply
Step 1: Complete online application form
- Fill out the online application form
- Record a short, unedited video (maximum one minute)
- Introduce yourself and your small business, non-profit organization, or community group
- Present your new tourism idea
- Upload the video file or provide a link to the video as part of the application
Processing and Agreement
Additional information
- Selected applicants receive a 3-month mentorship with a tourism innovator, experienced operator, industry leader and/or sector expert.
- Recipients gain access to a support network of tourism innovators, entrepreneurs and leaders.
- Ongoing guidance is available on other resources and support services provided by partners.
