Overview

This program provides micro grants and strategic support to help social service organizations launch and scale mission-driven social enterprises. Funding can support early-stage needs like registration, pilot projects, and staffing, as well as growth supports such as marketing, technology, and process optimization.

Activities funded

  • Launching a new or early-stage mission-driven social enterprise
  • Testing and delivering pilot projects for a social enterprise
  • Scaling and sustaining an established social enterprise
  • Building organizational capacity through workshops, coaching, or mentorship
  • Strengthening operations through marketing, technology, or process optimization
Examples of admissible projects:

Pilot a subsidized meal program paired with youth job training
$ 18,000
Expand a refurbishment social enterprise to create paid training jobs

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a social service organization developing and growing a mission-driven venture (social enterprise).
  • The social enterprise must be new, emerging, or mid-stage in its life cycle.
  • The organization must deliver social programs and/or services in a community served by Valley First.

  • Two program streams are offered: Launch & Build and Scale & Sustain.
  • Applicants selected will be notified by December 9.
  • The fund is guided by Sustainable Development Goals, including Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-Being, Quality Education, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Reduced Inequalities, and Climate Action.
