Eligibility

Eligibility for this grant is determined by specific requirements for SOCAN authors/composers and music publishers.

  • Author/composer applicants must have received two (2) SOCAN royalty payments in each of the previous three (3) calendar years.
  • Music publishers must represent works by at least four (4) SOCAN members and must have received two (2) SOCAN royalty payments in each of the previous three (3) years.
  • Applicants may receive only one (1) Professional Development Assistance Grant every two (2) calendar years.
  • Applicants funded by the Professional Development Assistance Program are ineligible to receive funding from the Travel Assistance Program.
  • Applications must be submitted before the activity starts.

Who is eligible?

SOCAN authors, composers, and music publishers across all genres of music are eligible to apply. Author and composer applicants must have received two SOCAN royalty payments in each of the previous three calendar years. Music publishers must represent works by at least four SOCAN members and have received the same number of SOCAN royalty payments in the past three years. Additionally, applicants can only receive one Professional Development Assistance Grant every two calendar years and cannot apply for the Travel Assistance Program if already funded by the Professional Development Assistance Program.
