Who is eligible?
- Small private firms in Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Non-profit or community-based organizations, in limited cases.

- Retail, wholesale, food service, finance, and real estate operations, unless the role supports entrepreneurial or small business management skills.

- Political parties, municipalities, and labour unions.
Eligible expenses
- Wage subsidy for student wages, covering 50% of the hourly wage.
- Reimbursement of approved student placement wages through monthly or end-of-term claims.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Materials and administrative costs related to the placement.
- Mandatory employment contributions such as EI, CPP, vacation pay, and workers' compensation.
- Other employee benefits such as dental or medical coverage.

Selection criteria
- Eligibility review of the employer and placement.
- Review by the appropriate co-operative education coordinator to confirm the placement is appropriate.
How to apply
- Step 1: Complete the SECPAP application
- Fill out the current application form in full.
- Add any requested or supporting documentation.
- Step 2: Submit by email
- Send the completed application to cesc@mun.ca.
- Fax submissions are not accepted.
- Step 3: Participate in the job competition process
- After approval, take part in Memorial University's co-operative education job competition process.
- Use the process to identify a suitable student, unless one is already identified.
- Step 4: Submit reimbursement claims after approval
- Send signed reimbursement claim forms with proof of payment to CESC.
- Claims may be submitted monthly or at the end of the term.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed for eligibility.
- The appropriate co-operative education coordinator reviews the proposed placement.
- Successful applicants are notified by CESC.
- Approved employers enter the co-operative education job competition process to find a student.
- Reimbursement claims are submitted with proof of payment and may be processed monthly or at term end.
