Who is eligible?
- Early-career child health researchers
- Independent researchers with academic or research appointments
- Researchers formally affiliated with an eligible Canadian institution

- Trainees, including fellows and doctoral candidates, as principal investigators
- Applicants without affiliation to an eligible institution
- Applicants who already hold an active SickKids Foundation grant
Eligible expenses
- Research costs, including materials, services, staff salaries, supplies, resources, animals, travel, and knowledge translation or dissemination
- Equipment purchase or rental, including computers, required for the project

- Overhead or indirect institutional costs
- Projects with limited relevance to child health
- Projects that primarily benefit children outside Canada
- Projects that are already funded
- Applications from trainees as principal applicants

Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed by an expert scientific peer review committee.
- Applications are assessed for scientific merit and relevance to child and youth health.
- Funding is recommended in rank order by the review committee.
- Final selection is made by SickKids Foundation’s Audit and Finance sub-committee.
- If funded, the principal investigator and eligible institution must sign a grant agreement.
