  • Chain of title documentation, if applicable, supplemental film or tape material on flashdrive or online link, and confirmation that the film will be produced solely utilizing New Brunswick labour and resources and/or details on non-New Brunswick resources utilized in production

Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Individuals who were residents in New Brunswick for at least one year preceding the application deadline
  • Previous applicants who were not recipients of a SFVP grant, if applying with new projects only

Who is not eligible

  • Applicants currently enrolled in any full-time school or university program

Eligible expenses

  • Film stock, processing, and video transfer
  • Equipment rental, including camera, sound, lighting, and editing
  • Post-production
  • Development of an online strategy for the film

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Experimental, animation, documentary, or commissioned films
  • Projects longer than 10 minutes
  • Projects that started before the SFVP call date
  • Scripts over 10 minutes, which are automatically disqualified for jury consideration

How to apply

  • Submit one copy of all required application documents by email to the New Brunswick Filmmakers’ Co-operative at tony@nbfilmcoop.com.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed for completeness, and incomplete applications are rejected.
  • Completed applications are submitted to a jury, which selects a shortlist of applicants.
  • Short-listed applicants receive script notes and work with story consultants on a revised script before the final selection is made.
  • If a recipient does not have the required training, they receive conditional acceptance until training confirmation is provided; grant confirmation follows once training is confirmed.
  • The New Brunswick Filmmakers’ Co-operative administers the program, receives update reports and grant drawdowns, and the recipient may submit the final project and financial and written report at any time over the next year to request the second instalment; all deliverables are due by March 31, 2027.
