Seniors Care Grant deadline and application update
The Seniors Care Grant application deadline changed from 31 March 2026 to 1 December 2026. Who is eligible?
- Low-income seniors who are 65 or older by 31 March 2027
Eligible expenses
- Cooking and meal preparation, excluding the cost of food
- Grocery and meal delivery, excluding the cost of food
- Healthcare services for your health and wellness, like foot care, physiotherapy and mental health support
- Home heating, home heating repairs and regular heating maintenance
- Home cleaning, organizing, help with downsizing or moving, laundry, medication and prescription delivery, outdoor work, phone, cellphone and internet services, small home repairs, transportation, and public and community transit

- Food costs
- Devices such as phones, cellphones, computers, laptops, and tablets
- Medical and assistive devices, including eyeglasses and dentures
- Medications, prescriptions, supplements, and vitamins

How to apply
- Step 1: Complete the application
- Apply online or use a paper form.
- Make sure all adults on the application are available to sign.
- Step 2: Submit the application
- Send the completed application online or by mail.
- Step 3: Respond to follow-up requests
- Provide proof of income, home ownership or lease agreement, and receipts only if requested later.

- Applications are reviewed after submission.
- Additional information may be requested by email if needed.
- Reimbursement is usually received within about 8 weeks.
- Approved payments are sent by direct deposit or mailed by cheque.
