Overview
The Security Infrastructure Program provides up to $100,000 per project to support not-for-profit organizations at risk of hate-motivated crime in strengthening their security infrastructure. Eligible activities include security assessments, minor construction, and the installation of equipment such as alarm systems, CCTV cameras, lighting, and protective measures.
Financing terms and conditions
- Funding covers up to 50% of total project costs, with a maximum of $100,000 per project.
- Applicants must provide cash and/or in-kind contributions equal to at least 50% of total project costs, from non-governmental sources.
- In-kind contributions, such as labour or equipment, must be detailed in the proposal and assigned fair market value.
- This funding cannot be combined with any federal, provincial, territorial, regional, or municipal government support for the same project costs.

- Installation of security equipment and technology to deter and respond to potential threats.

Eligibility
- The applicant must be a not-for-profit organization.
- The organization must have experienced hate-motivated incidents at or near the project site.
- The project must involve security infrastructure improvements for places of worship, provincially recognized educational institutions, or community centres in communities at risk of hate-motivated crime.

Eligible expenses
- Security assessments.
- Minor construction costs related to security infrastructure, including contractor fees, labour, and equipment rental.
- Purchase and installation of security equipment and hardware such as alarm systems, fences, gates, lighting, security film for windows, closed circuit television (CCTV) systems, exterior cameras and their relocation, anti-graffiti sealant, motion detectors, signage, and landscaping related to security.
