Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Eligible property owners
  • Authorized tenants with owner consent
  • Bona fide incorporated non-profit organizations
  • Businesses with properties in commercial, agricultural, or recreational uses

Who is not eligible

  • Local municipalities
  • Other governmental or quasi-governmental organizations
  • Non-profits that are not incorporated
  • Non-profits funded more than 50% by a County or local municipality

Eligible expenses

  • Façade, signage, and property improvements
  • Building restoration, conversion, and expansion work
  • Feasibility, design, and study costs
  • Municipal and County planning application and permit fees

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Life-cycle replacement work
  • Applicant-supplied labour
  • Taxes
  • Retroactive work started before the intake date, except for the specified fee and study grants

How to apply

  • Step 1: Meet with local municipality
    • Contact the local municipality to discuss the project.
    • Obtain a completed and signed Local Municipal Summary.
  • Step 2: Prepare application
    • Complete the application form.
    • Gather two detailed estimates for all work.
    • Include the required supporting documents.
  • Step 3: Submit application
    • Submit the completed package to the Review Committee Coordinator by email or in person.
    • Send the application before the posted intake deadline.
  • Step 4: Review and decision
    • The application is reviewed and scored.
    • You are notified if additional information is needed.
    • Final approval is made by the Approvals Committee and County Council.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are first reviewed by local municipal staff and then by County staff.
  • Complete applications are evaluated and scored based on how well they meet program goals and the quality of the submission.
  • Applicants are notified if their application is incomplete and what is needed to complete it.
  • Final approval or refusal is made by the Regional Incentives Program Approvals Committee and ratified by County Council.
  • Successful applicants enter into an agreement before funding is released after completion and final inspection.
